Big Scissors is created in traditional art technique – oil on canvas. I use this traditional artistic media together with other art techniques. For example, there are some new media art techniques that I love, like computer animation, computer graphics and so on. They are all segments of my art work.
Big Scissors
The painting was created in my artistic phase which is located somewhere between my expressive style and postmodernist art or postmodernism. Because this artistic phase was transitional and it was some kind of a link between two phases, there are the attributes of both styles incorporated in this particular artwork. Brush strokes that are accentuated are the elements that belong to a previous style. Bright and intensive color palette is typical for both styles. Some elements which belong to the next, postmodernist art or postmodernism style are implemented in some areas of the painting.

Those elements of the new postmodernist art or postmodernism style are a repetitive black and white dog-tooth pattern, and also some symbolic performances. Central part of the painting, which contains white scissors, had been re-created many years after the painting was “officially” finished. While creating this object some elements of the expression from the digital graphics had been transformed and performed in traditional oil painting on canvas art technique.
The format of the painting is rather large, but yet, not monumental.
The central theme of this artwork is a presentation of some symbolic and fictional person or personality and his or her internal world. There are many ways to explore if there is something interesting treasured behind the curtain or not.
But, it is not anybody’s business to instruct other people if they need to investigate or not. It is not artists’ job to guide people through the investigation process to discover of there is anything amusing or intriguing behind the scene, neither.
Artists are simply following their bliss, their inspiration and creative impulse. There is no room for calculations and premeditations. And the same is for the observers.
There are many aspects of this painting that can be revealed if there is the watchers’ intention for doing so.
Maybe it is interesting or funny idea if one specific instrument is used, and artist had actually suggested which one it was – mental Big Scissors.
