Big Blue is created in traditional art technique – watercolor painting.
Why I used watercolor painting art technique…
I use traditional art techniques along with new media art techniques. Watercolor painting is one of my favorite art techniques because this artistic media allows me to create art quickly.
Why I love to create art quickly…
It is important for me to allow my artistic ideas to flow freely, spontaneously and without much delay, whenever it is possible. It is a blessing to almost instantly witness your artistic ideas manifest in three dimensional material world.
This is why I love watercolor paintings.
There are some reasons which are in fact practical: it is easier to mail watercolor painting all over the world, of course, if it is not framed. Watercolor paintings need to be framed under glass, so, obviously, when they are framed, shipping is quite different story.
Postmodernist art or postmodernism and elements I used…
This watercolor painting is created in postmodernist art or postmodernism style. For so many years I have created a lot of artworks, drawings, paintings, watercolors, acrylic paintings, oils in this artistic style. There are several typical elements that I use: dog-tooth pattern, clean shades, intensive, bright, vivid color palette, symbolic interpretation of objects, figures, characters, and some text and so on.
Big Blue…
Although this is an abstract painting it is obvious that the motif is of this artwork is an excerpt of some sea or ocean coast. There is sea foam as a barrier or maybe a transition between two worlds: a solid ground and a water space. And big portion of blue and green shades and nuances are gently introducing the observer to other realms. What other realms?
The realm of the painting (and other realms)…
This is not only the realm of the painting in context of art which is evident here. There is a presence of the invisible realms implicated and initiated by creating or by observing the painting. While creating a painting I was spontaneously imagining that I am immersed in the oceans’ realms….so divine memory.
Undoubtedly, there are spiritual realms or strong spiritual presence captured here at this artwork.
Trattato della pittura
While creating this painting I implemented the concepts from the famous renaissance manuscript “Trattato della pittura”. It was written by Leonardo da Vinci. There are some principles about the prospective defined in that manuscript. These are instructions for the art students how to draw and paint distant object and perspective. It is explained that distant object have somewhat blurred shapes and less saturated colors and nuances…and so on…
